Smoked paprika is a powdered spice made from peppers in the Capsicum annuum family. It is similar to regular paprika, except that instead of using an air machine for the drying process, the peppers used to make smoked paprika are dried over smoking oak wood, which adds a lovely savory smokiness to the finished product. This fine, pungent and smoky powder has a deep warm red color which comes from its rich amounts of carotenoids, which are yellow-red pigmented nutrients in the vitamin A family. Therefore, adding smoked paprika will add both color and flavor to your dishes.
